It’s been nice knowing ya !

This is a Fanpost to ask the readers here :

Who currently on the roster might be moved prior to the March 7th trade deadline ?

My feeling is although the Sabres are capable of a push in the next two months, we have unfortunately dug ourselves too big of a hole. There is nothing I would rather see than a resurgence and a push towards the playoffs. But….realistically, we are looking at another year of missing the playoffs. With that, let’s predict who leaves and who we keep.

One player I definitely see being moved is Jordan Greenway. I’d hate to see him go but he will bring some decent assets from a contender looking for that final piece to their puzzle. Another potential player on the move will be Henri Jokiharju. He has not endeared himself to the Sabre’s coaching staff this year and would be a likely piece to be moved at or before the deadline. Another defenseman that could be moved is Jacob Bryson. He has rebounded nicely from last year and although he remains a #6 or #7 guy in our lineup, he could fit as a third pair guy on a contender. I suppose Connor Clifton could be on this list but he’s played well of late so I imagine the Sabres would like to keep him.

There are some who are talking about trading the likes of Tuch, Thompson, Cozens, etc.. I’m not sure it couldn’t happen but I guess stranger things have occurred in this league. IMO, I’d have a hard time with the team moving any of those guys as they are all either in their prime or very close to it. We have a core group that should at least be left in place another year or two. After that, if we haven’t had the success we expect, tear it down !

One player I’d like to see moved while his stock is high again is Devon Levi. He’s been tearing up the AHL and I’m sure there are teams looking to bolster their goaltending. There are guys out there that could equal and possibly surpass Levi’s potential so I’d roll the dice with that one.

Let’s hear your ideas / thoughts on who the Sabres should part with on their journey to NHL relevance.
