The Evander Kane injury is as bad as it looked live, as Dan Bylsma told the media today the Sabres forward has three broken ribs. He’s expected to be out for weeks.
Kane left the team’s season opener last night in the second period after going into the boards hard. Contact with Montreal defenseman Alexi Emelin forced Kane to the ice, and he was unable to stop his momentum before crashing into the boards behind the net. He was taken to the hospital.

The Sabres are already without Jack Eichel, who will miss the next six to eight weeks with a high ankle sprain. Buffalo will likely wait until tomorrow to call up a forward since the Rochester Americans are in action tonight.
The team will likely get Kyle Okposo back from injury Sunday. He skated on the top line with Ryan O’Reilly and Sam Reinhart at practice this morning.
