Evander Kane is done for the season, Tyler Ennis could return

The Buffalo Sabres have announced that Evander Kane will miss the remainder of the season. The winger incurred an ‘upper-body injury’ during the game against the Detroit Red Wings on Monday and left after the first period. Coach Dan Bylsma announced today that his timetable for return was approximately three-four weeks but with the Sabres’ season ending on 9th April, it would be pointless to rush the player back.

Kane played in 65 games this season for the Sabres, scoring twenty goals with fifteen assists. He has had a tumultuous year in Buffalo, with allegations of sexual abuse and a suspension for partying too much affecting perceptions of the player. Kane has developed a fan following in Buffalo in spite of his indiscretions, with his support for local charities and a young girl undergoing cancer treatment, and his hard-hitting play on the ice, including an epic three-round fight with Panthers defenseman Alex Petrovic.

Bylsma also announced that Tyler Ennis was also not officially out of contention for this season. The forward has only played 23 games for Buffalo this season. Ennis is currently skating on his own, but could start doing team drills soon.
