Edmonton wins NHL draft lottery, Sabres will pick #2 overall

Tonight, the future of the entire NHL and the team we all love was altered forever when that golden envelope was opened and it was announced that the winner of the 2015 NHL Draft Lottery was…the Edmonton Oilers. Again.

With that result, the Sabres will now have the #2 overall selection in the 2015 draft which features two generational prospects in Connor McDavid and Jack Eichel. McDavid will almost certainly go #1, which means the Sabres will most likely be drafting Boston University superstar Jack Eichel.

Eichel is the best player to go through the NCAA in a very long time – possibly ever – and will be counted upon to lead the Sabres franchise from the depths of the NHL back to national relevance and eventually to the goal which has eluded them for the entirety of their 44 years of existence.

The Stanley Cup.

Rejoice now, Sabres fans, and know that Jack Eichel is on his way. Jack, this time it’s Buffalo who’s coming for you.
