Canadiens vs. Sabres Recap: The Tyler And Tyler Show Gives Sabres The Victory

All it took for the Sabres was the Tyler and Tyler show to get that much closer to the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference. Tyler Myers scored the game winning goal 2:01 into overtime to give the Sabres a 3-2 victory over the Montreal Canadiens.

The first period saw the Sabres pour on a ton of chances but not able to convert anything. In fact, they came out of the period down 1-0 as Erik Cole got an early goal that started on a Ville Leino turnover to David Desharnais. Desharnais quickly worked it to Cole who rifled the shot past a clueless Ryan Miller. The Sabres did outshoot the Canadiens 14-6 in the period, but just couldn’t convert.

Tyler Ennis got the Sabres on the board with a beautiful dangle around Andrei Markov for his 9th goal of the season. The assists on the goal came from Drew Stafford and Marcus Foligno. Ennis wouldn’t be done in the game as he scored the Sabres second goal in the third period after backhanding the puck in front of the net and getting it to go off Alexei Emelin and in the net. With the goal, Ennis became the 7th Sabre this season to score double digit goals.

The Sabres had the lead until five seconds before the end of the game when David Desharnais was able to get loose in front of the net and snap the puck past a fledgling Ryan Miller for the game tying goal. The goal was Desharnais 15th of the season.

Tyler Myers secured the Sabres win with a nice wrist shot from the top of the right faceoff circle past Peter Budaj. The goal is Myers’ 8th of the season and first game winning goal of the season. Peter Budaj had a total of 33 saves in the game while Miller made 26 saves for the win.

The Sabres are now two points behind the 8th place Washington Capitals and three points behind the 3rd place Florida Panthers. Both teams play on Tuesday and the Sabres could still be two points behind 8th as they face the Avalanche on Wednesday night.
