Can Adam, Kassian, Or Foligno Crack The Sabres Roster Anytime Soon

Luke Adam, Zack Kassian, and Marcus Foligno have to be considered the three best forward prospects on the Sabres roster at this point in the season. They looked like the dominant line during the Traverse City tournament with Luke Adam taking the MVP of the tournament with three goals and an assist in three games played.

That same line started their first preseason game together against the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday night and didn’t have as spectacular results with no goals scored, five total shots, and one goal allowed. While they didn’t shine in their preseason opener, they still have a handful more games to prove that one or all of them deserve to be on the main roster.

Luke Adam has the inside track in making the roster because he has the most NHL experience. He was apart of 19 games last season and scored three goals and one assist in those games. The fact that Adam plays center will also help his cause in making the roster because the Sabres are thinner at the center position. Kassian and Foligno would be getting their first chance at being called up to the main squad this year after they spent last year with their respective junior teams.

While all three players could have very good careers, the logjam at forward at the moment means that all three players are most likely going to start the season with Rochester and they will most likely play on the same line. When an injury happens though, that would be their chance to make a statement.
