Fans have been clamoring for this change for years and it’s finally here. The Sabres went away from the royal blue full time back in 1996 when they went to the red and black. They dipped their toes back into the jersey color as an alternate back during the 2006-07 season, but now they’ve decided to go back completely.
The news today also came with the announcement that they will unveil their 50th anniversary sweaters tomorrow at 10 AM. Announcing the royal blue change today avoids the replies of fans yelling about the color scheme of the 50th anniversary jersey.
We’ll see how the official release goes tomorrow but leaks have indicated we’re likely going to see a white and gold jersey.
Check back tomorrow morning to participate in the comments their 50th anniversary jersey.
