The Top 25 Under 25 is a collaboration by members of the Die By The Blade community. It was a combination of staff writers and over 200 readers that ranked Buffalo Sabres players under the age of 25 as of August 1, 2024. Each participant used their own metric of current ability and production to rank each player. Staff votes are counted equally with reader votes.

2023 T25U25 Ranking: 5

Before being drafted by the Sabres in 2020 (which seems like eons ago), forward Jack Quinn looked like a puzzle piece that the offense had been – and still is – missing for quite some time. During the 2019-2020 season with the Ontario Hockey League, the Ottawa native tallied an impressive 52 goals in 62 games – numbers we have not seen from him in the NHL…yet. Unfortunately, Quinn has been bitten by the injury bug several times in his last few seasons and even underwent Achilles surgery during the 2023 off-season. As if that was not enough, he suffered a lower-body injury shortly after returning from surgery in the latter half of the 2023-2024 season. Simply put, he could not catch a break. Though fans have seen glimmers of his talent, we have not seen it long-term and the potential is certainly there.

Quinn is a playmaker who has proven he can be shuffled around on any offensive line when he is healthy, stepping up when teammates are injured. Upon his long-awaited return from surgery back in December, the winger scored four goals in seven games and had his first three-point night of his NHL career in late January. Quinn has shown he is a two-way player, too, serving on the penalty kill and blocking shots when necessary. Overall, he thrives with linemates like JJ Peterka and Dylan Cozens and veterans like Rasmus Dahlin respect his abilities, sharing that his shot is “unbelievable.”

Quinn returned to the ice at the end of March and, as we all know, the Sabres’ hopes of a playoff push had already dissipated. However, he still managed to make an impact offensively – scoring two goals and an assist as the regular season ended.

The question is: can he remain healthy for the entire upcoming season? The good news is that he has had this summer to get his body back on track without the roadblock of an injury or surgery and can start the 2024-2025 season fresh, hopefully showing Buffalo what he is really made of. Fingers crossed.
