Buffalo Sabres Top 25 Under 25: #21 Albert Lyckåsen

The Top 25 Under 25 is a collaboration by members of the Die By The Blade community. It was a combination of six staff writers and over 485 fans that ranked players under the age of 25 as of August 10, 2021. Each participant used their own metric of current ability and production to rank each player.

Buffalo Sabres prospect Albert Lyckåsen makes his debut on the Top 25 Under 25 this year, after being drafted by the team in 2020. His rankings were the farthest apart when comparing how the fans ranked him (30th) versus how our staff ranked him (18th).

Lyckåsen had a quiet 2020-21 season, splitting time between Linkopings and Mora IK. He appeared in 19 games between the two teams and registered four points, including this goal:

He also recorded five points in as many games with Tranås AIF.

The 20-year-old is one of a small handful of right-handed defensemen in the Sabres organization. Lyckåsen is set to play this season with Linkoping and hoping to earn a full-time spot on the team, alongside fellow Sabres prospect Linus Cronholm. They open the season on September 11 against Luleå.
