Sabres tie the game late, but fall in overtime to the Rangers

Score: Sabres 2 | Rangers 3 (OT)

Shots: NYR 43 | BUF 23

Sabres Goals: Rasmus Asplund (3) and Tage Thompson (2)

Rangers Goals: Colin Blackwell (9), Filip Chytil (7), and Mika Zibanejad (12) (GWG)

Plus – 1 | Tokarski

Full marks to Dustin Tokarski in this contest. He made 43 saves on 47 shots last night. Tokarski has been out of the league for a long time playing in the AHL, but he has been fine for the Sabres when called upon. He kept his club in the game and allowed them to tie it late.

Plus – 2 | Battling Back

The Sabres had a strong first period and dominated the Rangers. The remaining 40 minutes belong to the visitors. The good news is the Sabres managed to stay in the game and fought back to tie it with under 10 seconds remaining to get the game to overtime.

In the past, that game gets stupid and ends 5-1.

Plus – 3 | Streaking!

After an 18-game winless streak, the Sabres find themselves on a three-game points streak. They’re 1-0-2 in their last three. We’ve had enough negativity around this team so positive vibes only in this one even though they lost.
