One of the better players from the Buffalo Sabres’ latest doomed season, Ryan McLeod was tendered a qualifying offer which he has now signed. The speedy middle-six forward has signed a four-year deal with an AAV of $5 million, a very reasonable deal that secures his immediate future.
Coming to the Sabres from Edmonton Oilers in a trade for 2022 first rounder Matt Savoie, the 25-year-old was a pleasant surprise for all the fans who had him pegged as a fourth liner. McLeod scored 20 goals and 53 points in all, stepping up to the top six when injuries called for it while playing a key role in the penalty kill, with his pace and passing providing the team with an attacking boost.
