Sabres sign Cozens to entry-level deal

In the draft a couple week ago in Vancouver the Buffalo Sabres walked on the stage and selected the 6’3”, 180 lbs forward Dylan Cozens after an impressive season with Lethbridge Hurricanes in the WHL and with the Canadian U18 team in both the Hlinka Gretzky Cup where he had five points in as many games and in the U18 World Championship in which he served as an alternate captain for Canada and amassed nine points in seven games.

And now he’s committed to Buffalo going forward.

On Monday, the Sabres announced they had signed the 18 year old to a three-year entry-level contract.

Cozens start as a Sabre was not the one he would have dreamt of as a kid, as he injured his left thumb during development camp and was forced to undergo an operation.

The recovery is expected to keep him away for a couple months.

The Whitehorse, Yukon, native were tied for 10th among all WHL skaters with 84 points (34+50) in 68 games for Lethbridge last season.
