Sabres recall O’Regan and Wilson; send Pilut to the Amerks

The Buffalo Sabres made some roster changes prior to Monday’s NHL Trade Deadline. Jason Botterill decided to send defenseman Lawrence Pilut back down to the AHL and placed forward Kyle Okposo on injured reserve.

He filled those two roster spots by recalling forwards Danny O’Regan and Scott Wilson from the Amerks.

O’Regan was the prospect acquired in the Evander Kane trade with the San Jose Sharks last February. He has 18 goals and 34 points in 53 games with the Amerks this season. The 25-year-old is set to become a Group 6 free agent this summer. Would make sense for the Sabres to want to get a look.

The Wilson recall was only a matter of time. When he was sent down a month ago, he was told it was only a temporary move after he suffered a serious ankle injury days before the start of the season.

He has three goals and 7 points in 17 games in the AHL this season.
