Sabres recall defenseman Lawrence Pilut

The Buffalo Sabres announced this afternoon that they’ve recalled defenseman Lawrence Pilut from Rochester Americans of the AHL. Pilut was returned to Amerks at the end of February after playing 25 games with the Sabres earlier this season.

At practice today the Sabres were without defensemen Zach Bogosian and Matt Hunwick. With two games on the road the Sabres were need of a blueliner. We’ll see if he gets into either of the two games.

As of this point they have not designated this recall as an “emergency recall” thus meaning the Sabres would be out of recalls for the remainder of the season outside of an injury emergency situation.

The other interesting tidbit to come out of practice today is that Casey Mittelstadt was taking rushes on defense with the team down a few and Pilut not in Newark yet. That usually indicates that he’ll be a healthy scratch in the team’s next game.
