Sabres recall Alexander Nylander

The Buffalo Sabres announced this afternoon that they have recalled forward Alexander Nylander from the Rochester Americans (AHL). This goes in the books as Nylander’s first recall of the season.

In 49 games with the Americans this season, Nylander has tallied 31 points (12 goals, 19 assists). This includes a recent hot stretch of four goals and six points in his last four games.

As for his short NHL run, Nylander has tallied two points (1 goal, 1 assist) in seven career NHL games over two seasons.

With Jack Eichel set to face a hearing with the NHL regarding a questionable hit yesterday afternoon against the Colorado Avalanche, the Nylander news might make a little more sense – obviously speculation until the next time Phil Housley speaks to the media.

According to the Buffalo Sabres PR team, the team next practices on Monday morning at 11 AM. More clarity to this news will most likely be available at that point.

Stay tuned for the latest updates on this developing story.
