How’s everyone’s summer going? It’s been a quiet one over here at Die By The Blade. There’s always something to talk about, for sure, but it’s been relatively quiet on the Eastern front when it comes to the Buffalo Sabres. NHL arbitration hearings are coming up, though this year, the league has not released its normal schedule of when each respective player’s hearing is – so we have no idea when Ukko-Pekka Lukkonen or Beck Malenstyn will head to their hearings. Until we find out more, all we can wait for is to see if the sides settle before their hearing.
I know a lot of people have mixed feelings about Kyle Okposo, but his letter to Sabres fans that appeared on the Buffalo News’ website this week was a good one. He also finally got his day with the Cup, but it wasn’t easy: the global IT outage meant the Cup was stuck in St. Louis. Okposo had to cancel his public event planned, but the Cup did finally make it for him to enjoy some of the day.
There’s still time to submit your ballot for our annual Top 25 Under 25, so don’t forget to check that out and vote if you haven’t already.
Oh, and the Cup comes to Western New York on Tuesday, as Rick Dudley brings it to Lewiston.
Let’s make this a good week, folks.
