No big names to get the fan base excited so far
The Buffalo Sabres were pretty quiet yesterday as NHL Free Agency got underway at noon.
Two familiar faces to the organization made a return as forward Conor Sheary and defenseman Dennis Gilbert are back, signing NHL veteran minimum $850,000 one-way contracts.
The pair will have a chance to play for roster spots when training camp begins, but otherwise nothing to really get excited about.
The Rochester Amerks cupboard is quite bare so the Sabres added Trevor Kuntar and Jason Polin for some veteran leadership.
It’s hard to tell if there’s more coming, especially with General Manager Jarmo Kekäläinen sounding like he’s done wheeling and dealing.
