Jake McCabe will miss the remainder of the season with a significant knee injury

The Buffalo Sabres confirmed what we all feared in regards to Jake McCabe’s injury. The defenseman will miss the remainder of the season due to the injury he suffered against the New Jersey Devils on Saturday afternoon.

The club stated he suffered injuries to his ACL, MCL, and meniscus. His recovery time is listed at six to eight months.

This is a huge blow for the Sabres. He was having a career season and was their best defenseman. The veteran defender was among the best defensive defensemen in the league this season.

The real unfortunate part for McCabe is he’s going to be an unrestricted free agent after the season and was in line to get a nice payday. Now, he’ll likely be settling for a one-year prove-it deal. We’ll see if the Sabres decide to bring him back or not after the season.

With this injury, the Sabres blue line looks very thin. Will Borgen may miss tonight’s game with a hand injury and Rasmus Ristolainen is still a few weeks away as he works his back from Covid-19.
