With the NHL trade deadline looming, the Buffalo Sabres announced Wednesday that the team signed forward Jordan Greenway to a two-year contract extension. The extension carries an AAV of $4 million.
The 28-year-old is now signed through the 2026-2027 season. To date, he’s appeared in 110 games with the Sabres since being traded to Buffalo in 2023, accruing 40 points (17-23).
This season has been mired with injury for Greenway, who missed time on two separate occasions for a middle-body injury. Still, he has eight points in 26 games this season and has been a physical presence upfront who’s made a difference in the games he has played in.
Greenway is in the final year of a three-year contract with a $3 million cap hit. He was set to become an unrestricted free agent, a status he’ll now hit in 2027.
The Sabres initially acquired Greenway from the Minnesota Wild at the 2023 trade deadline, giving up a 2023 second-round pick and a 2024 fifth-round pick in the process. Those picks turned into Riley Heidt (2023-64) and Sebastian Soini (2024-140).
