Buffalo Sabres Development Camp schedule and roster announced

Next week, the Buffalo Sabres will host their annual prospect development camp, where players drafted over the past few years are invited to Buffalo to practice, scrimmage, and learn from the team’s coaches and trainers how to be a better pro. We’ll get first looks at highly touted draftees like Sam Reinhart and Brendan Lemieux, a chance to see how much second-year players like Rasmus Ristolainen have improved, and the opportunity to see third-year invitees like Zemgus Girgensons dominate.

Today, the Sabres finally released both the schedule and roster for this much-anticipated camp. The camp will run from Monday, July 14 – Friday July 18, and 41 players have been invited to participate. All of the practices and scrimmages are open to the public, and will be held on the First Niagara Center ice.

While the roster is very exciting (and looks so, so much better than the prospect depth did after the 2012 draft) there are a few notable absences. Gustav Possler will not skate thanks to a knee injury, while one of last year’s second round picks, Connor Hurley, is not on the roster for unknown reasons. Other prospects not on the roster include Christian Isackson, Brad Navin, and Mark Adams. We’ll update this post if we find out any more about why these players were not invited.

There we have it, Sabres fans. DBTB will be in attendance for the scrimmage, 3-on-3 tournament, and a practice or two, will any of you be going as well? Let us know what you think in the comments.
