Buffalo Sabres and the Expansion Draft: Who ya got, Forward Edition

Just a few days before the expansion draft, as smallish trades and wowza buyouts are beginning, time to guess who’s exposed and who ya bettin’ the Kraken are gnabbin’.

To conform this a little bit, I think we can almost all agree that these four skaters are going to be protected. Oh, and I think we can almost all agree that the Sabres are going to use the 7-3-1 method.

Sure thing protected forwards: Jack Eichel, Sam Reinhart, Victor Olofsson, Casey Mittelstadt (Jeff Skinner NMC removed for expansion)

Sure thing protected defenseman: Rasmus Dahlin, Henri Jokiharju

That leaves us to wonder who is Adams going to protect as the 6th and 7th forward and who is going to be that most attractive forward who just missed the cut.

The (remaining) forward group (according to CapFriendly):

So, who’s got your vote for best/most exposed & attractive forward? I am excluding some names like Tobias Reider or JS Dea, which I think would obviously not be protected and would be very far away from consideration (outside of trades etc). I know this includes Eakin & Okposo, but gotta narrow this down somehow, right?

Pick the forward who you think WILL NOT be protected and would be the “best” forward that could be selected by the Kraken?

Jeff Skinner 169
Kyle Okposo 94
Cody Eakin 50
Anders Bjork 58
Tage Thompson 82
Rasmus Asplund 115
Zemgus Girgensons 239

And don’t worry, part three (part two shall be the defenseman), will include options like Adams considering a trade to keep a winner from this or part 2’s poll and entice Seattle with a less attractive player

Edit: Updated poll with the news that Jeff Skinner has signed off of his NMC for the Seattle expansion
