Sabres Steamroll Mannheim In Final Preseason Game

Alright, so the title is cheesy but it works for this case as the Sabres finish their preseason with an 8-3 victory over Adler Mannheim in front of a raucous crowd in Mannheim, Germany.

Tyler Ennis lead the Sabres with two goals while Luke Adam, Thomas Vanek, Christian Ehrhoff, Ville Leino, and Brad Boyes each scored for the Sabres while Jhonas Enroth played the entire game and allowed three goals against.

The biggest winner of this game seemed to be Luke Adam who needed a good game to solidify a spot on the Sabres roster with Jochen Hecht not being able to start the season after suffering a setback with concussion complications. Adam ended the preseason with two goals and three assists and should be the player that will slot in the final roster spot to replace Hecht. Adam seemed to have struggled when he was paired with Marcus Foligno and Zack Kassian and then seemed to have thrived with Thomas Vanek and Jason Pominville. Adam should thrive on a line with proven NHL players much like Nathan Gerbe did in his second half resurrection last season.

The Sabres preseason ends with a 5-1-1 record and now focus shifts on the start of the season against the Anaheim Ducks on Friday in Helsinki, Finland.
