Final Thoughts
This is the year of ending droughts. First Buffalo ended their 14-year playoff drought, and now they’ve won their first playoff series since 2007.
The pressure the Sabres were able to put on the Bruins was the main difference in this game. The Bruins defenders couldn’t handle the speed and relentlessness of the Sabres forwards.
Benson’s goal changed the entire game. Boston was controlling the third and looked to be on the verge of tying the game. All starting from Pastrnak’s fumble at the offensive blue line, Doan’s hustle beat out two Bruins and gave Benson an opportunity he wasn’t going to miss.
Restoring that two goal lead took the fans out and completely deflated the Bruins. The Sabres were able to regain their footing and shut down any counterattack. This team continues to find ways to win and look to be a true threat in the Eastern Conference.
They will have to wait a couple of days to see which Atlantic division foe they will face in the next round as Tampa Bay forced a game 7 with an overtime win in game 6. Either way, Buffalo will have more rest than their opponent which is a premium this time of year.
The Buffalo Sabres have won a playoff round; Better Days are here.
