Buffalo Sabres 2013 Trade Deadline Recap: Who’s In, Who’s Out

The trade deadline week was a big one for the Buffalo Sabres, seeing many players get shipped out, and many future returns brought in. Since there was so much activity at the First Niagara Center, we thought we’d recap exactly was was lost and what was gained to help you properly judge whether GM Darcy Regier brought a worthy enough return.

Shipped Out

RW Jason Pominville
D Robyn Regehr
D Jordan Leopold
D TJ Brennan
2014 4th Round Pick

Brought In

C/LW Johan Larsson
G Matt Hackett
2013 1st Round Pick (MIN)
2013 2nd Round Pick (STL)
2013 5th Round Pick, conditional (STL)
2013 5th Round Pick (FLA)
2014 2nd Round Pick (MIN)
2014 2nd Round Pick (LAK)
2015 2nd Round Pick (LAK)

For those wondering, the Sabres high draft choices for the next three years now look like this:

2013 – Two 1st Round (BUF, MIN), Two 2nd Round (BUF, STL)
2014 – One 1st Round (BUF), Three 2nd Round (BUF, LAK, MIN)
2015 – One 1st Round (BUF), Two 2nd Round (BUF, LAK)

And remember, they still have some players rumored to be trade targets at the draft in Drew Stafford and Ryan Miller. So, Sabres fans, are you happy with what the Sabres did at the deadline?

Are you happy with the moves the Buffalo Sabres made at the deadline?

Yes, good job Darcy! 412
No, booooo Darcy! 48
You can’t properly judge trades for prospects and draft picks for at least three or four years, dummy, so I abstain. 237
