Sabres re-sign forward Scott Wilson

Not a lot of news for the Buffalo Sabres so far today. Unless you count a division rival getting the big fish in free agency, but we’ll save that for later.

The Sabres announced today they did come to terms forward Scott Wilson on a new two-year deal worth $2.10 million ($1.05 million cap hit).

He was acquired in an early season trade with the Detroit Red Wings last season. He scored six goals and 14 points in 69 games last season.

The 26-year-old will add some depth to the bottom six of the roster that should be one of the main areas that Jason Botterill focuses on this summer.

So far the Sabres have signed Carter Hutton, Scott Wedgewood and Wilson today. We’ll see if they can rope in a few more players. Left wing looks like a target for the Sabres general manager on the first day of free agency.
