BREAKING: Evander Kane Traded to the San Jose Sharks

According to reports Evander Kane Buffalo Sabres forward Evander Kane has been traded to the San Jose Sharks.

The 26-year-old forward will be an unrestricted free agent in July. The reported return is a conditional 2019 first round pick*, 2019 fourth round pick** and prospect Dan O’Regan.

*The condition on the first round pick in 2019 is if Kane re-signs in San Jose. If Kane goes to free agency it becomes a 2019 second round pick.

**Additionally, the 2019 fourth round pick can be pushed off by the Sharks, in which case it becomes a 2020 third rounder.

O’Regan has played 19 games with the Sharks this season and has four points with no goals. He has 25 points in 31 games with the San Jose Barracuda of the AHL. The 2012 fifth-round pick will likely report to the Rochester Amerks to give them a boost for the remainder of the season.

The Sharks are second place in the Pacific Division and will get a nice boost from the addition of Kane. The left winger will end his Sabres career with 68 goals and 118 points while he wore the blue and gold.

The big fish is gone for the Sabres and we’ll see if more trades come before the 3 pm EST deadline.
