Brandon Hickey signs a two-year entry-level contract with the Sabres

In what has turned out to be a relatively quiet day for the Buffalo Sabres. They got a contract done with on of their new prospects today.

Defenseman Brandon Hickey signed a two-year, entry-level contract to remain with the Sabres. The two sides couldn’t make a contract official until today and if a deal didn’t get done, Hickey would have been an unrestricted-free-agent in August.

The Sabres acquired Hickey a few weeks ago as part of the trade that send forward Hudson Fasching to the Arizona Coyotes.

Hickey just finished his four-year career at Boston University. He played with current Sabres Evan Rodrigues, Jack Eichel and Danny O’Regan during his time with the Terriers.

The 24-year-old who was a third-round pick of the Calgary Flames will very likely begin his pro career in the AHL with the Rochester Americans.

When you combine Hickey with Lawrence Pilut, Taylor Fedun, Zach Redmond and Matt Tennyson, the Amerks have the making of a nice blue line next season.
