Rochester had one small stretch of three games before the annual AHL All-Star Game.
Despite their recent struggles, the Amerks were able to turn things around and look much like the Amerks of earlier this season.

With three wins in three games, all is right in the world with the Amerks heading to the All-Star Break.

Three Big Things

1: Return to Form

With the All-Star Break looming, the Rochester Amerks only had one more box to check off – get back to their past winning ways.

In three games before the break, Rochester was able to grab all six of six available points.

Rochester had only won three games since their last three game win streak ended on December 18.

Talk about a way to squash their skid.

2: Oglevie’s On Fire

For ten straight games, Andrew Oglevie struggled to find the back of the net.

In three games this past week, Oglevie snapped out of that funk and scored three times.

His development continues down in Rochester, with 13 goals on the season. This ties Oglevie with J.S. Dea with the team lead in goals.

We have talked about Oglevie’s recovery from injury last season and how impressive he has been this season. With Buffalo continuing to find secondary scoring, one has to wonder how much longer Oglevie has to put the puck in the net before he gets a shot.

3: Holding Strong in the North

Heading into the AHL’s All-Star Weekend, Rochester certainly helped themselves out with a big three game stretch.

As things stand now, Rochester sits in second place in the North Division. Belleville, winners in seven of their last ten games, holds a four point lead over the suddenly streaking Amerks.

A large amount of games remain to be played but Rochester getting back in the win column certainly helps turn the tides.
