Amerks Review: A Points Streak Comes To An End
Rochester’s incredible run came to an end this past weekend against Charlotte.
Rochester continued their winning, points-collecting ways this past week. In three games, the Americans collected four of six points.
As we continue to dive deeper into the season, the Americans continue to excel when facing adversity.
The good news? Buffalo finds themselves getting healthier, which means bodies should be coming back to Rochester. That could be bad news for the rest of the North Division.

Three Big Things
1: Diversify Your Goal Scorers
Rochester continues to score goals at a healthy pace, with another nine goals in their last three games.
The best thing about all of those goals? Rochester found themselves with those nine goals from nine different goal scorers.
At this point, 21 different players have scored a combined 76 goals for the Rochester Americans in 23 games.
Now, the real question is which goaltender will score a goal first - Andrew Hammond or Jonas Johansson?
2: Rest in Points Streak
The Rochester Americans pushed their points streak to an impressive 12 straight games before ultimately losing in regulation to Charlotte last Saturday.
Their first regulation loss in 14 games looks a little more impressive when you realized their streak lasted 39 days.
Rochester’s 12-game streak was the longest since the 2004-05 season, which saw the franchise run a 14-game point streak from January 16, 2005 to February 11, 2005.
The Americans have picked up points in 17 of their last 20 games, earning 34 of a possible 46 points.
Rochester also recorded their first back-to-back shutout wins since March 24, 2013 / March 27, 2013.
This team might just be good.
3: Johansson in Net
Last Friday night, Jonas Johansson started in goal for the Rochester Americans. Johansson went on to record a 26-save shutout in the Americans 4-0 victory.
Not only did this go in the books as Johansson’s first AHL shutout but this also was Johansson’s 100th professional victory.
The 24-year old Johansson has been having a strong season with the Americans, posting a 2.10 goals allowed average and a .924 save percentage in 12 games.
Last season, Johansson split time between Rochester and Cincinnati (ECHL) and recorded a combined record of 22-6-3.
This season, Johansson has a record of 7-2-2. Clearly, the development of Johansson is slowly but surely happening in Rochester.
