Amerks Drop Two Games Against Toronto Over The Weekend

The Rochester Americans are fading in the standings after losing back-to-back games against the Toronto Marlies this weekend.

The Marlies struck quickly on Friday, scoring two goals in 15 seconds and never looking back en route to a 4-1 win. Matt Frattin was the hero for Toronto, scoring two goals, while Maxime Legault tallied the only goal for the Amerks.

On Saturday, the Amerks did slightly better, but still lost 3-2 in OT, at least earning the loser point. This time it was Nazem Kadri who scored twice for the Marlies, while the Amerks got scoring from the blueline, with Alex Biega and Brayden McNabb both scoring their second goals of the season. Marcus Foligno assisted on both goals, giving him four helpers in his last five games. Toronto has now won all 3 games against Rochester this season, but the Amerks have had a problem winning games against anyone over the past few weeks.

The Amerks are now 3-6-1 in their last 10 games, and will look to the imminent return of Cody Hodgson to spark what has suddenly become a listless team. They currently sit in 11th place in the Western Conference after being in 5th place just a few weeks ago, and can’t seem to get things together on either offense or defense recently.

Ron Rolston, you’ve got some work to do.
