The 2024-25 season is now officially over, and once again the Buffalo Sabres watched the postseason fun from the outside, making it the longest playoff drought in NHL history at 14 seasons. Still, if you want some straws to clutch at, the current NHL darlings Florida Panthers who have now made three straight Stanley Cup Final appearances winning the last two also went through an eleven-year drought between 2001 and 2011.
This is the week of the NHL Entry Draft which once again brings promise that the Sabres might be able to not just affect their future, but could possibly make some moves to improve the present as well.
We’re going to have quite a bit of content for you this week, starting with T McGee’s Final Mock Draft which went live earlier today, with his Big Board coming up as well. We’ll also have a review piece that goes around mainstream media collecting Mock Draft links and scouting reports on all the different prospects that are being mocked to the Sabres.
The 2025 Upper Deck NHL Draft will be held June 27-28th at L.A. Live’s Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. The first round will be held June 27 (7 p.m. ET; ESPN, ESPN+, SN, TVAS), with rounds 2-7 on June 28 (Noon ET; NHLN, ESPN+, SN, SN1).
We’ll have another open thread on Friday to discuss what goes down, along with coverage on both days of any moves Buffalo makes along with their picks.
