Are NHL brass privately ticked?

Now that the first round of the NHL playoffs are complete, I bet the NHL Brass privately are ticked off as ALL 4 of their Superstars FAILED to get out of the 1st Round!!

Connor McDavid - Edmonton Oilers

Sidney Crosby - Pittsburgh Penguins

Alex Ovechkin - Washington Capitals

Austin Matthews - Toronto Maple Leafs

Oh there are still other superstars to promote, but losing these 4 in the first round really has to be a tremendous blow for promoting the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Of course there is nothing they can do about it. It's out of their control.

It just proves when it comes to the NHL Playoffs, the regular season means NOTHING!

My favorite team, the Pittsburgh Penguins, have made the playoffs the past 15 years straight. I lived in Pittsburgh for 4 years (1975-79) and did a college internship with the team during that.

My former favorite team, the Buffalo Sabres, have MISSED the playoffs the past 10 years! And the outlook for making the playoffs anytime soon simply are NOT there.

If you had a person responsible for running hockey operations, and that person had the team finish last in the league in 4 of the last 8 seasons, that person, presumably, would be FIRED!

But when that person (Kim Pegula) also is the co-owner, what is to be done?

I say it's time to HIRE a Hockey Operations person, then HANDS OFF!! Certainly that person can't perform any worse.

How many more years must the long-time suffering Sabres fans continue to suffer?
