NCAA Hockey Friday -- Quick Recap

Look for highlights to be posted Sunday of six weekend games featuring five Sabres prospects playing NCAA Division I hockey.

Northeastern 2, Providence 1

Devon Levi's amazing season continued in Rhode Island. The sophomore stopped all 37 shots he faced, helping the 16th-ranked Huskies up their record to 12-4-1.

Levi's shutout was his sixth this season, a Northeastern record. The 7th-round draft choice, who the Sabres traded for in the Sam Reinhart-to-Florida deal, has a 1.35 GAA, and a .935 Save Pct.

Levi and Northeastern host the Friars tonight at Matthews Arena.

Minnesota 5, Michigan 1

Erik Portillo (2019, third round) may have given up five goals, but if you watch the highlights Sunday, you may come to the conclusion he was Michigan's best player. The Golden Gophers sliced through Wolverines with ease in Ann Arbor.

Ryan Johnson (2019, first round) was his usual, steady self on the Gophers' blueline. The junior finished plus-two.

Portillo made 17 saves. Owen Power (2021, first round) didn't register a point and was minus-one.

These teams return to Yost Arena tonight at 7 p.m.

St. Cloud State 8, North Dakota 1

Matteo Costantini (2020, fifth round) returned to the ice after missing the previous four games through illness. The freshman might have been better off staying in Grand Forks.

ND hadn't lost by more than six goals in 23 years.

Costantini and ND will look for some revenge tonight in the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.
