NCAA Wednesday Hockey -- Erik Portillo shutout (highlights)

Michigan 0, Michigan Tech 0

The Sabres' goalie pipeline, one of the team's few strengths at the moment, got a superb performance out of Erik Portillo in this one. The big Swede (6-foot-6, 225 lbs.) stopped all 27 shots he faced in a number-one-star earning effort.

The scoreless tie was Michigan's first since 1954. The below highlights feature plenty of Portillo, including a penalty-shot save late in overtime.

Portillo needed to be good against a solid Huskies squad. The Wolverines skated without five stalwarts, including No.1 pick Owen Power, who were in Canada for the now-cancelled World Junior Championship.

Fair warning to the easily offended. Michigan Tech's uniforms in the highlights package are not for the faint of heart.
