We’re all aware of the odd situation that the NHL is in due to COVID-19. The Buffalo Sabres unfortunately may not see the ice for nine months when this is all over with.
One of the consequences of the suspension from play and return to play plan in July, is that the 2020 NHL Draft has been pushed back into August or September. However, as a reminder, the phase 1 NHL Draft Lottery will take place on June 26.
Usually we run our annual top 25 under 25 series after the draft, but with how things have unfolded this year, we decided to put together two versions. This version will be a pre-draft version where all players that are under 25 on July 1st of this year will be eligible.
Then after the draft we’ll put together a second series that will include players that were just selected. It’ll also knock a few players off from this list, like Victor Olofsson because he’ll be 25-years-old for the second series.
I know last year there was some confusion with the ranking site that we used, so this year we’ll switch to Survey Monkey. Hopefully it’ll be easier for voters to navigate. Voting will go through this Friday (6/19/20) and then we’ll begin posting the rankings on Monday of next week.
