2020 NHL Draft: How To Watch Online, TV Coverage, Start Times & Draft Order

The air is getting crisp and the leaves have well and truly turned, it must be time for some hockey!

Well, not quite. The COVID pandemic has meant that the whole calendar has shifted out by about a hundred days, so the NHL Draft which usually happens in late June is being held today.

A half-decent run last season meant that the Buffalo Sabres finished outside the really high picks and will be selecting #8 tonight.

Tonight will feature 31 first round picks, and it will end up taking an inordinately long amount of time, followed by Rounds 2-7 tomorrow, which will then go by so fast you’ll be hitting refresh on the Open Thread every couple of minutes.

Thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, we won’t see the first-round draft picks walking up to the stage in Montreal to be greeted by NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman and the team’s big brass. Instead the whole ceremony is going to be held online and for the first time since 1994, held in the middle of the week.

How to Watch

Round One

Date: Tuesday October 6

Start time: 7:00 PM EST

TV: NBCSN (USA), Sportsnet & TVAS (Canada)

Online stream: NBCSports Live (coverage starts at 7:00pm)

Rounds Two to Seven

Date: Wednesday, October 7

The open thread is already live, let’s chat about what the Sabres will do for their eighth pick, whether they will have one of the coveted forwards fall to them, or will they be trading down and collecting more picks.
