A tweet from Andy Strickland of Fox Sports Midwest in St. Louis has caused a stir this afternoon in Buffalo. He tweeted about speculation that Sabres defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen could be on the move to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

A lot of rumors fly around this time of the year, but this one is intriguing for sure. It involved a high profile Sabres player and a team within their own division. The Lightning are do not have a lot of cap space to work this so if a trade does happen this could get interesting.

A few players to keep an eye on as potential pieces coming back from the Tampa Bay Lightning are defenseman Erik Cernak, forwards Anthony Cirelli, J.T. Miller, and Ryan Callahan. Both Callahan and Miller would salary moves for the Lightning to make it work with their salary cap situation.

The deal could also involve picks and prospects too. I guess we’ll wait and see if anything happens, but it’s an interesting situation to follow.
