After some mystery surrounding Buffalo Sabres 2018 fourth-round pick (94th overall) Matej Pekar. We finally received clarification where the Czech forward will play next season.
He signed on to join the Barrie Colts of the OHL for the upcoming campaign. Which he believes gives him the best opportunity to continue develop and play in the NHL down the road.
Pekar had committed to play at the University of Miami (OH), but then decided he wanted to return to play for the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the USHL. He played for Muskegon last season where he earned the honor of USHL rookie-of-the-year.
Then it came out yesterday that Pekar was not listed on the Lumberjacks 30-man roster. Rumors started to swirl he would now play in the OHL & it became official today.
The rugged forward caught the fans attention at Development Camp for his edge that he plays with. He’ll play for the Sabres in the Prospects Challenge this weekend before reporting to Barrie.
