The Buffalo Sabres announced this morning they’ve re-signed forward Danny O’Regan to a one-year, two-way deal worth $874,125. The 24-year-old will remain a restricted a free agent next summer when his new contract expires.
O’Regan was of course the prospect acquired in the deadline trade back in February that sent Evander Kane to the San Jose Sharks.
The 2012 fifth-round pick played two games with the Sabres and 18 with the Amerks last season. He had 13 goals and 40 points in 49 games for the Amerks and San Jose Barracuda in the AHL this past year.
Heading into training camp, the former Boston University forward will be competing one for one of the final spots on the bottom of the Sabres roster. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of noise he can make in camp, if any.
The Sabres only have three restricted free agents left to sign in Sam Reinhart, Justin Bailey and CJ Smith.
