The Buffalo Sabres have recalled forward Justin Bailey from the AHL’s Rochester Americans ahead of Saturday’s afternoon tilt with the Vegas Golden Knights.
Since the Sabres game is at 1 pm Saturday, it made sense for the team to recall Bailey tonight, prior to the Amerks’ 7:05 p.m. game against the Providence Bruins.
This is Bailey’s second call-up of the season. In 27 games with the Amerks, he’s put up 10 points (6-4).
The 22-year-old has 47 career NHL games, with seven points (4-3) in that time.
Bailey’s recall comes after the Sabres announced today that forward Kyle Okposo has been diagnosed with a concussion suffered during Thursday’s game in Ottawa. Okposo will be out indefinitely, according to the team.
The concussion came after a collision with Bobby Ryan in the neutral zone. Okposo missed the last six games of the 2016-17 season with a concussion. He then had a reaction to medication, which resulted in his hospitalization in intensive care.
Seth Griffith, already up from the Amerks, reportedly has an upper-body injury as well.
