What to Watch

1. Danny O’Regan recalled, but won’t play tonight.

The Sabres recalled forward Danny O’Regan this morning who was the player they received in the Evander Kane trade. Turns out he was invited to get a good view of the game from the press box tonight. He won’t be in the lineup, so I guess this is something you won’t get to watch. He may get an opportunity tomorrow in Ottawa.

2. Reinhart and O’Reilly

The offense has flowed through Sam Reinhart and Ryan O’Reilly since Jack Eichel’s injury. Reinhart has five goals and nine points in the 11 games Eichel has missed. O’Reilly has three goals and 12 points in the same stretch. He also brings a four-game point streak into tonight.

Know Your Opponent

1. Another Struggling Opponent

A lot of the teams the Sabres have hosted in Buffalo recently have been struggling. The Flames are another one. They’ve lost four straight coming into tonight. Scoring more than two goals only once in their four losses.

2. Johnny Hockey

Gaudreau is having another really nice season for the Flames. He has 20 goals and 74 points in 67 games this season. He’s a real special player to watch when you get the opportunity.

3. No Mike Smith

Calgary has been without Mike Smith the last few weeks. He started to practice again yesterday, but won’t play tonight. The Sabres will see either Jon Gillies or David Rittich tonight.
