What to Watch

1. Reunited

Jack Eichel and Evander Kane have been reunited. Kane has gone ice cold since his hot start and has been pretty invisible in the last few games. With the trade deadline 25 days away the Sabres could be hoping Kane starts to fill the net again to increase that value a little more.

2. Returns

It appears as though Jacob Josefson and Nathan Beaulieu could return to the lineup tonight. Josefson practiced yesterday with Jordan Nolan and Nick Baptiste. While Beaulieu was paired with Justin Falk. We’ll see if Housley confirms their returns after the morning skate or if it’ll be a game-time decision.

update: Nathan Beaulieu will NOT return tonight

3. Ocho-Cinco

Chad Johnson was the first goalie off the ice this morning and is the likely starter tonight. Johnson had perhaps his best game of the season in his last start against the Calgary Flames last week.

Know Your Opponent

1. The Big Three

The Panthers offensive output funnels primarily through three players in Jonathan Huberdeau, Vincent Trochek and Aleksander Barkov. All three have at least 15 goals and 40 points on the season.

2. Goaltending Issues

The goaltending situation has been less than ideal for the Panthers this season. Roberto Luongo has been out since early December with an injury. Meanwhile, James Reimer has been in and out of the lineup. When he has played he’s struggled at times with a 3.04 goals against average and a .911 save percentage in 32 appearances.

28-year-old rookie Harri Sateri has made the last two starts for the Panthers, including picking up his first NHL win against the New York Islanders on Tuesday.
