The National Hockey League announced today that Seattle was unanimously approved by the NHL Board of Govenors for expansion.

They’ll become the NHL’s 32nd team starting in the 2021-22 season.

The expansion draft will take place in June of 2021. The rules will be the same as they were for the Vegas Golden Knights expansion draft two years ago.

Speaking of Vegas, they will not participate in the expansion draft in 2021.

Seattle will be placed in the Pacific Division when they enter the league. Resulting in the Arizona Coyotes moving to the Central Division.

It’s time to stir up the expansion chatter again and begin to speculate on the team name of the new Seattle franchise.
