World Junior Recap: Oskari Laaksonen highlights day two for the Sabres

Oskari Laaksonen was elected player of the game for Finland in their win over Kazakhstan

Day two of the 2019 World Juniors U20 Championship featured three games and only one of them consisted of a Buffalo Sabres prospect. Today’s games will feature two Sabres prospects in action.

Mattias Samuelsson and Team USA will face Kazakhstan, while Matej Pekar and the Czech Republic will meet the Russians.

Sabres Prospect Update

Goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen got the night off yesterday after playing very well against Sweden on Wednesday.

Laaksonen was the only other Sabres prospect in action yesterday. He played very well for the second straight game on the Finnish blue line. The 2017 third-round pick played a team high 21:40 for Finland, with two shots. He was also elected Player of the Game for his team.
