The Buffalo Sabres announced this morning they’ve recalled defenseman Matt Tennyson from the Rochester Americans of the AHL. Tennyson will join the Sabres in Western Canada for the last two games of their road trip.

The Sabres were in need of a defenseman after Nathan Beaulieu left last night’s game early. He got into a scuffle with Flames forward Curtis Lazar and ended up slamming his face on the ice.

Tennyson gives the Sabres seven healthy defenseman for the time being with Josh Gorges, Zach Bogosian and now Beaulieu on the shelf. It’ll be interesting to see who plays as the sixth defenseman. Tennyson or Victor Antipin.

This is Tennyson’s second stint with the team. We made the club out of training camp, primarily due to the injury situation. He was very up and down in his 14 games played this season in which he recorded no points. Tennyson does add some speed on the blue line if he gets into the lineup.
