Three Questions

1. Can Colin Blackwell build off his strong debut?

Blackwell, an invite to camp, scored twice while centering a line with C.J. Smith and Hudson Fasching. The Harvard grad spent last season with the San Jose Barracuda and is working to earn a contract with the Americans.

2. Can the Sabres’ power play improve on game one?

The Sabres have a star-studded PP1, featuring Justin Bailey, Nick Baptiste and C.J. Smith up front plus Brendan Guhle and Alex Nylander on the blueline. Those names didn’t translate to goals against the Devils, as Buffalo went 0 for 6 while on the extra man.

3. Can the Sabres get production from their big names?

It wasn’t just the power play where the top prospects struggled. Bailey had flashes of brilliance, but Nylander, Hudson Fasching and Guhle had games to forget.

Projected BUF Lines

Hagel - Cornel - Bailey

Smith - Blackwell - Fasching
