If you haven’t heard yet, we’re in the midst of a transition here at Die By The Blade. My name is Chad DeDominicis and I’m taking over as the Managing Editor of the site from Andy Boron.
First off, I want to wish Andy all of the best in his future endeavors. Andy did an amazing job building this website and maintaining it over the past eight years. I have some big shoes to fill, but I’m excited about the opportunity.
Since this is a little bit of a meet and greet with the awesome readers of Die By The Blade, let me tell you a little bit about myself. I’ve been a fan of the Buffalo Sabres since I understood what hockey was. I’ve lived through the ups and downs that have come with being a fan of this hockey club.
Over the past five years, I’ve been covering the Sabres for various outlets like The Hockey Writers and The Fourth Period. I also am the co-host of a Sabres podcast called Beyond The Blade (@BTBHockey on Twitter if you haven’t heard of it). Last year I was given the chance to sit in the press box as a media credentialed writer, which was a dream come true. I look forward to another season in the press box this year.
I’m a laid back guy that just loves to talk hockey. Die By The Blade has an amazing community that loves to chat about the game. That’s why I thought this was the perfect place for me to interact with the fan base and grow in the hockey world at the same time.
I want to thank SB Nation and Travis Hughes for giving me the opportunity to lead the team that’s already assembled here as well as writers that we’ll likely add in the near future. Also, a special shout out to Dennis Bernstein of The Fourth Period who I’ve considered a mentor, even though he lives all the way out in sunny Southern California. Without his support and wisdom, I don’t know if I’d be where I am today.
So, welcome to the newish Die By The Blade. It’ll be a mix of some of the same and some new stuff I have in mind to bring to the site. This is a perfect time to get going as the season is right around the corner. I look forward to interacting with you and I hope you’re as excited about this season as I am!
