Sabres trim the training camp roster to 36

NHL: Montreal Canadiens at Buffalo Sabres Kevin Hoffman-USA TODAY Sports

The Buffalo Sabres trimmed their training camp roster assigning ten players to the Rochester Amerks and one to OHL.

Cliff Pu was assigned to his junior team the London Knights earlier this morning after getting an extended look and playing in two preseason games. The former third-round pick was impressive during the Prospects Challenge and training camp. He’s set himself up to have the chance to be a roster dark horse next season.

After last night’s 3-0 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs the club assigned ten players to the AHL. None of the names on the list is really surprising and more cuts could be on the way by the end of the Sunday as Amerks camp opens on Monday.

Here are the players who were sent down today:

Forwards

Stevie Moses

Kevin Porter

Eric Cornel

Vaclav Karabacek

Defense

Devante Stephens

Casey Nelson

Jason Kasdorf
