Three Questions

1. Will Zemgus Girgensons continue a strong start to camp?

We’ll get our first look tonight at Zemgus Girgensons on the wing with Ryan O’Reilly and Kyle Okposo. Girgensons has started off strong in camp making a good impression on the new coaching staff. Now, he’ll have the opportunity to continue his quest to lock down a spot in the top six in live game action.

2. Glimpse into the future with Rasmus Ristolainen and Brendan Guhle pairing?

The young duo of Ristolainen and Guhle will play together tonight against the Hurricanes. They’ve been a pairing through the first few days of camp. Guhle is an exciting young prospect that has an outside shot of making the roster out of camp. A strong game with the Sabres top pair defender could be the first step in being a surprise opening night player. Regardless if Guhle can make the roster to start the season we could be getting a glimpse at the future top pair for the foreseeable future in Buffalo.

3. How will Sam Reinhart look at center?

The Reinhart to center experiment will get kicked off tonight. He’ll be skating between free agent acquisition Benoit Pouliot and Stevie Moses. If Reinhart struggles early in the preseason at the pivot we’ll likely see him put back on the wing near the end of training camp to get him ready for the regular season.

Projected Sabres Lines

Girgensons - O’Reilly - Okposo

Pouliot - Reinhart - Moses

Griffith - Rodrigues - Pu

Smith - Criscuolo - Bailey

Ristolainen - Guhle

McCabe - Fedun

Nelson - Goloubef

Goal: Lehner - Ullmark
