The Buffalo Sabres released their preseason schedule today, and it features some games against old friends, the defending champs, and another visit to the Pegula Ice Arena at Penn State. The full schedule is:
Monday, September 18, 7:00pm - Sabres vs. Hurricanes
Tuesday September 19, 7:00pm - Sabres vs. Penguins*
*At Pegula Ice Arena, Penn StateFriday, September 22, 7:30pm - Sabres at Maple Leafs
Saturday, September 23, 7:00pm - Sabres vs. Maple Leafs
Wednesday, September 27, 7:00pm - Sabres at Penguins
Friday, September 29, 7:00pm - Sabres vs. Islanders
This will be the second time that the Sabres have played at Pegula Ice Arena since the team’s owner put up the big bucks to build it back in 2013, and with each of the last two preseasons featuring a game at the Peg, it now seems like it will become an annual tradition.
Aside from that, this is your pretty standard preseason, though it is a bit spicier with two games each against Toronto and Pittsburgh. The most exciting thing about these six games is that we’ll get to see the first glimpses of the Sabres under new head coach Phil Housley, and presumably with many different pieces on the ice thanks to new GM Jason Botterill.
